Where things stand
Coffee To Career is an independent project run by one FSU student. It isn't run by Florida State University.
It's in a private pilot, and today one person uses the app. It's for students only, and invites open to FSU students first.
This website
This site has one form, the invite request. It takes your name and FSU email. Until invites open it keeps neither and says so. Once they open, it will pass them to our own server, so the person who runs Coffee To Career can read your request and send your invite. To stop repeat requests, it keeps a scrambled form of your IP address in memory for a short while, never on disk.
The site has no analytics, no cookies and no ads. It runs no scripts from anyone else and stores nothing in your browser.
The font is Bricolage Grotesque from Google Fonts. We serve the font file from this site, so your browser doesn't contact Google to load it.
The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare handles each request your browser makes, including your IP address.
What the app collects
Whatever you type, paste or make there: your profile (your name, email, major, graduation term and what you're looking for), your resume and its versions, the postings you save, the people you save and the messages you log, your applications and their records, AI drafts, your prep rooms and practice answers, and events you add.
If you prepare an application, it also keeps the answers you give for forms: your legal name, phone, city and state, whether you can work in the US, whether you'll need visa sponsorship, and the optional equal opportunity answers.
Why
To score postings for you, line up application answers, draft notes and resumes, and help you prepare for interviews.
Where it goes
It's stored on our own server. The one person who runs that server can read it.
When you use an AI feature, the text it needs (your resume, a posting, your answers) is sent to Google's Gemini. Google's terms decide whether Google may use that text to improve its products.
Some of that is about other people. The names and titles of people you save, replies you paste in, and any interviewer profile you paste into a prep room go to Gemini when an AI feature uses them.
Email is off unless it's switched on for your account. In the pilot it's set up by hand for one Gmail address. When it's on, the emails you send go out through Gmail, and Coffee To Career checks that inbox for replies to them.
If you ask the app to find a person's work email, it sends that person's name and their company's web address to Hunter, an email-finding service.
When Coffee To Career reads job postings or an application form, it asks the site that publishes them: an employer's job board, or the site that runs a list. Nothing about you goes with the request. It doesn't scrape LinkedIn, Handshake, Indeed or anyone's profile.
We keep backup copies of the whole database. We haven't set how long they're kept, so a deletion may not reach them right away.
Security
The app encrypts only the optional equal opportunity answers, and nothing else is encrypted by the app. Nothing about the service has been audited or certified.
A copy, or deletion
The Your data page in the app has a Download my data button. It gives you a copy of what you've stored.
Deleting your account inside the app is still being built. Until it is, ask us and we'll delete your account and its data by hand within 30 days. Everyone with an account today was invited in person, so you can ask the person who invited you.
